Reduce Spending Now!

As simple as it sounds, reduce spending, eliminate non-essential projects, even if the money has been slated.  For instance the 15m being spent on Juanita park. Great idea, wrong time. Or millions being spent on bus stop on I-5 when a park and ride is within 1 mile.  We are on a budget. Our government, State and Federal, should follow suit.

furloughs, volountary, longer

furloghs were a great idea. i dont like losing money, but it is better than being laid off and the state having to foot the bill and people losing every asset they have worked for becaues unemployment is not enough and i think longer voluntary furloughs, that dont affect benefits or retirement should be available for people who want and can afford to take time off in leiu of layoffs, more layoffs, especially in Economic ...more »

unemployment compensation

people on unemployment compensations should be able to earn at least 80% of what their last job was w/o losing any benefits, it keeps them from loosing assets that will help them maintain self sufficientcy. for instance if i was on unemployment, the max i could get would be 1/2 what i earn now, if i get laid off but can find a minimum wage job to suplant what i get on unemployment, i will be able to make some headway ...more »

Change can be scary, but until you try it or at least consider...

-Hire less state troopers, allow local cities to adjust their police forces to accomodate locally. We don't need to become like California where cops hand out tickets left and right for breathing. Real crime should be dealt with first. Not saying no staters- just saying less- cut the force down. -Get the state out of the liquor selling business- this is a no-brainer. There is no reason private sales outlets can't ...more »

The Buck stops at the top

I understand that agencies and departments within the state can decide who to place on furlough and for how many days - meaning that not all state workers are being treated the same. This seems unfair because 2 people doing the same job for 2 different agencies within the state, are probably impacted differently in terms of furloughs and pay cuts. My solution is that instead of furloughs for some, ALL state employees ...more »

Too many managers (Wms)

Look at middle and upper management. When we took the last cuts, we got one more manager, and lost 3 office assisstants. You dont need a managing director, and another manager (WMS) under her/him with only 5 employees in a unit. Cut pay or number of WMS, and make sure it is WMS, everytime this comes around to our agency, they play the shell game and we lose more front people and the WMS are moved/renamed/saved, but ...more »

No more front license plates

Remove the requirement for front license plates for vehicles. Nearly half the states do not require them. The state can save the costs of making the plates and the enforcement required.

Break up the monopoly

The government has too many assets to pay for. Or shall I say, that the taxpayers pay for. Farm it all out. Like a corporation that has a monopoly. Break it up. Form new profit making companies that will distribute money into the economy instead of dumping that money into new unwanted programs. Get rid of all the cars, planes, choppers and construction equipment. Let the new companies fund all that thru profits instead ...more »
