Change to Fire Code: Saves Money! Does not impact safety.

Current fire-code requires that larger buildings have fire-alarms with redundant phone-lines for fire-alarm monitoring. Each phone-line costs approx $50 per month.

Phone-line redundancy is not needed. Duplicate phone lines go from the same junction box, through the *same* cable, to the same phone-switch. If one phone-line is damaged, both are! This is "fake" redundancy, yet it costs businesses, condo owners and apartment managers *a lot* of money to pay for these required phone-lines.

Change the fire code, so that a single-phone line on a fire alarm is allowed within city limits. This would save $50 per month, per building, putting *a lot* of money back into the economy.
